Mission

The Sexual Psychophysiology and Affective Neuroscience (SPAN) Laboratory team is devoted to increasing the understanding of sexual responses in men, women, and their partners and the effects of alcohol use and abuse on these responses. We believe that treatments used by health care professionals should be supported by research, and we see our responsibility in that process as helping bridge the gap between basic science and application. In service of this ideal, we offer student mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate level in research and therapy, actively conduct research, and disseminate our findings in scientific venues, through our clinical practice, and to the media.
